VR update (11/03/2026):

Our voluntary redundancy (VR) scheme has now closed. Since launching on 2 February 2026, there have been over 650 applications received from across the Group.

The scheme has been closely modelled on the national scheme and mirrors the process applied by Cheshire and Mersey ICB. There are strict eligibility requirements that match national NHS regulations around redundancy.

The intention of the VR scheme is to support the Group in the implementation of target operating models and other workforce change processes at a time of considerable transformation.

What's next?

Colleagues who applied have now received an email advising that the scheme has closed and their application will now move to the next stage.

Applications are being considered in a phased approach around approval or decline – with corporate services being first.

Corporate SROs received their list last week for consideration against key criteria, and other SROs will receive theirs in phases.

Why is it in phases?

Funding from regional NHS England has been made available, however this is time dependant and requires exits within this financial year (for funding this financial year).

This creates a time pressure and considering applications in a phased approach allows the Group to respond at pace to funding opportunities in this and the next financial year.

We will continue to keep colleagues updated as this progresses and appreciate your patience. Any questions can be sent to: vrschemesupport@liverpoolft.nhs.uk
