Our Big Conversation
More than 1,000 colleagues took part in Our Big Conversation to help shape our five-year strategy, UHL 2030, contributing around 4,000 ideas, comments and votes.
This strong level of engagement highlights how committed you are to improving services and shaping the future of care across our hospitals.
Feedback came from a wide range of roles, although contributions were higher from administrative and clerical colleagues, with some groups such as nursing and midwifery less represented.
A number of clear themes emerged from staff feedback. Many colleagues shared a real pride in the care being delivered and the benefits of collaborative working, but this was sometimes overshadowed by understandable anxiety about change. Staff spoke about feeling under pressure and wanting more stability, clarity and direction during the transition period, as well as fairness across roles and organisations. There was also a strong desire to remove barriers, improve efficiency, and ensure both physical and digital infrastructure better supports day-to-day work and patient care.
Alongside this, feedback from patients and the public reinforced what matters most: safe, compassionate care, clear communication, joined-up services, faster access, and the right use of digital technology.
Feedback shaping the future
Together, these insights have helped us to shape the final version of our five-year strategy, UHL 2030, which we will shortly be launching. Our focus now is on ensuring that some of existing transformation programmes, such as outpatient transformation and the EPR programme, align with the ambitions set out in the strategy, and developing clear delivery plans that turn feedback into action.
UHL2030 – our five-year strategy
We have a once in a generation opportunity to make bold changes and transform patient care for the future.
A lot has changed since the NHS was founded 78 years ago. Using population health data, we’ve developed a strategy that sets out how our services and the way we deliver them can be shaped to meet the needs of people today.
Our strategy is ambitious, but rethinks how and where we deliver care, to improve the health and quality of lives of the communities we serve, in Liverpool and the wider city region.
